Email Accounts
Every student registered for a credit course at University of Denver is provided with a DU e-mail account. E-mail may be accessed under webCentral by clicking on the e-mail link in the upper right corner. New students will receive information in the mail concerning their username and password from University Technology Services approximately a week after registration. The first time e-mail is retrieved via webCentral, users may be asked to enter their password (which is their eight character alphanumeric webCentral passcode.)
Students are encouraged to forward their DU e-mail account to their preferred e-mail account and to regularly check for new information and academic updates. Information concerning forwarding a DU e-mail account is available. It is important to check DU e-mail regularly as it is a frequently used form of communication for instructors, University College and the University of Denver.
For more information concerning e-mail and internet services or for problems with DU e-mail accounts, contact University Technology Services (UTS) at 303-871-4700.
eCollege
ECollege is the course delivery platform utilized by University College for online courses, classes with an online component, and communication for on-campus classes. The eCollege platform creates a dynamic virtual classroom experience that provides course content ranging from text, graphics, audio and video. This web-based course delivery software includes easy to use threaded discussion boards, communication tools which facilitate meaningful exchange with other students and instructors, a convenient Voice Over IP communication channel, online assessment tools and helpful round the clock technical support to accommodate students’ needs.
Registered students will automatically be enrolled into eCollege course shells approximately one week before the published start date of class. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to students a few weeks after registration informing them that they are able to access the eCollege course management system. The initial confirmation e-mail message will include a temporary password required to log in to eCollege courses.
Webcentral
The University of Denver is committed to making electronic availability of resources efficient and easy to access. WebCentral provides access to DU e-mail, MyWeb, resources and more. It is web-based, so students do not have to install additional software. To access webCentral, students should log in directly at webCentral. To log in, students must have their nine-digit DU ID and eight character alphanumeric passcode. For first time users, the passcode will be month, day and year of birth (mmddyy). First time users will be prompted to change their passcode to something more secure.
Portfolio
The University of Denver Portfolio Community supports electronic portfolios for students, faculty and staff. Students can post assignments and create a showcase of their best work, allowing people outside of the DU community to view their electronic portfolios. Students can access the Portfolio Community through webCentral by clicking on the “Resources” tab. Assistance and further information is available at the Portfolio Community Help Desk at 303-871-2084.
