Integrative Project - 4 credits
Students in all majors design, complete, and submit an integrative project, usually a report of 20 to 30 pages that summarizes how various aspects of their learning in the major have been applied to a particular problem in a specific setting. The project is set in a relevant type of organization (business, government, not-for-profit) and addresses a significant problem. The project requires that the problem is clearly defined, that some knowledge, skill or activity has been applied to the problem, and that the problem has been solved, resolved, or at least better understood through these applications. The focus of the project is on utilizing background knowledge or skills developed through several courses in the major to address a defined problem in a systematic way. The emphasis is on combining several concepts, types of knowledge, and skills learned through the major to address a specific challenge, hence the term “integrative.” Through this project students will learn how multiple perspectives can be integrated to create useful solutions to defined problems.
Prerequisite: Students need to have completed Directed Research, Integrative Project Design, 8 credits of their common learning and 3 courses in their major above 3000 level.
