Undergraduate Degree Completion Admissions

Thank you for your interest in the Bachelor of Arts completion program at the University of Denver University College. We have provided application and admissions information below that we believe will answer questions about our admissions process. Admissions Criteria

Candidates for the undergraduate degree program at University of Denver University College are evaluated based on the following criteria (entrance examinations such as the ACT or SAT are not required):

1. Must have completed 40 quarter hours of transferable credits in academic subjects. Applicants with between 40 and 44 quarter hours must also submit high school transcripts or official verification of the High School Equivalency Diploma (GED). If you do not meet the transfer credit criterion, please click here for an additional option.

2. The applicant’s professional commitment and written language skills are evaluated through the Statement of Purpose and Commitment, submitted as part of the admissions packet.

3. Must have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in previous undergraduate work.

4. Must have at least three years of work experience beyond high school. Preference will be given to candidates with more than three years work with substantial and increasing levels of responsibility.

5. In addition, we consider any special situation or circumstances that may have influenced your previous academic performance.

NOTE: Additional requirements exist for international students.

A preliminary transfer hour evaluation can be completed as well as the required degree plan.

File an Application

To apply for admission to University College Bachelor of Arts Completion Program, applicants should submit a signed application, a $75 nonrefundable application fee, and the documents listed below. We encourage you to apply early as spaces are limited each quarter.

Prospective students may submit an application online, by mail, or the application packet can be hand-delivered to the University College Admissions Office. Applications will not be reviewed until all required admission items are received. To increase the speed of processing, please label each item with your name and program to which you are applying (ex: Jane Smith – BACP). It will take approximately 6-8 weeks to process your application and make an official admission decision.


1. Application form

Submit your application online or download a paper copy of the undergraduate application. You may also request an admissions application packet by contacting the Admissions Office at 303-871-3969, 1-800-347-2042 option 4, or ucolba@du.edu.

Here are detailed instructions to begin the online application:

  • a. Go to myweb.du.edu.
  • b. Select "apply for admission."
  • c. Either enter your Login ID and Pin# or create a new ID and PIN.
  • d. The first page you will see asks you to select the college to which you are applying. Select "University College."
  • e. You are then prompted to enter a degree. Select "BA - Bachelor of Arts."
  • f. Select a major.
  • g. Fill out all sections of the application thoroughly.

You should receive an email from our Admissions Office within a week of submitting your application online.

2. Application Fee

There is a non-refundable application fee of $75.00. Checks can be made payable to University of Denver; or you may pay the fee with a credit card by either writing it in on the paper application or calling the Admissions office at 303-871-3969 or 800-347-2042 option 4. You may also pay the fee online with a credit card if you complete the online application form.

3. Statement of Purpose and Commitment

Type your answers to the essay questions and submit them with your application (approximately three pages, double-spaced). This essay is a chance for you to tell us your educational experience, work experience, why you belong in the Bachelor of Arts Completion program and your goals for the future. This can be mailed to University College, faxed to 303-871-3303, or emailed to our Admissions Office at ucolba@du.edu.

4. Two References

Please provide the name, phone number, and email addresses of two people who can be contacted for letters of recommendation if necessary. References can be from academics, professionals, community leaders, or colleagues with whom the applicant has worked closely and who can give specific information about your abilities and potential. These can be listed within the application, identified on your resume, or emailed to our Admissions Office at ucolba@du.edu.

5. Resume

Submit a resume listing your current employers and professional experiences, as well as your personal and community involvement. It should include at least 3 years of work or related experience. This can be faxed to 303-871-3303 or emailed to our Admissions Office at ucolba@du.edu.

6. Two official transcripts

Send two official transcripts from each college or university where two or more credit hours were completed. Official transcripts must arrive at University College unopened and in the original package in which they were mailed. Official transcripts must be received even if the credits are listed as transfer credit on another submitted transcript. Official transcripts must also be received regardless of when the credits were earned, or whether or not the credits were applied towards a degree.

7. Signed degree plan

A current, signed degree plan must be completed with and signed by an academic advisor. Compiling a degree plan allows you to meet with an academic advisor and reflect upon what exactly you want from your education and how our program can fit your needs. To schedule an appointment with your advisor, please call our advising line at 303-871-3367 or 800-374-2042 option 6 and tell them you are interested in the Bachelor of Arts Completion Program.

8. Interview

At the University of Denver, we may ask applicants to participate in a personal interview so that we can learn more about you and the qualities and experiences that you bring to your studies. The interview is another opportunity for you to get to know us and determine if University College is the right fit for you.

9. Additional requirements

Non-U.S Citizens or non-native English speakers who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree must meet additional requirements.

New Student Orientation

Register for either the on-campus or online new student orientation by contacting the Student Services Office at 303-871-2291, 800-347-2042 option 1, or uc-registration@du.edu. The New Student Orientation provides relevant information about academic expectations and gives students an opportunity to become familiar with many of the university services available to them.
