Undergraduate Financial Aid

Your financial aid package may include a mix of federal grants, loans and scholarships. Most packages are renewable throughout your undergraduate enrollment if you continue to meet eligibility requirements.

Daniels Opportunity Scholarship

The grant will provide ten eligible Bachelor of Arts Completion Program students with $2,500 per year for two years to help mitigate the costs of returning to school as an adult learner.

Details

Each scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2,500 for two consecutive years. The award is dispersed evenly over 8 academic quarters. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 2 classes or 8 hours per quarter, 4 quarters per year and remain in good academic standing.

Federal Financial Aid

Undergraduate students may qualify for federal financial aid provided they are accepted degree candidates and half-time students (enrolled in 6 or more credit hours). Subsidized loans are interest-free as long as you are enrolled at least half-time.

Process

Online applications are the quickest way to apply and usually require a minimum of three to four weeks for processing. Please note admission deadlines.

    1. Apply for a US Department of Education PIN.
    2. Fill out the FAFSA form.The school code for DU is 001371.
    3. Download and complete the Institutional Verification Form (IVF) for the correct year.
    4. Download and complete the Title IV Payment Authorization.
    5. Send or fax the IVF form, Title IV, and a signed copy of your Federal Income Tax Return (check the IVF form for the correct year) to the Office of Financial Aid at DU. The fax number is 303-871-2341.
    6. Review your Award online at MyWeb and accept your Financial Aid Awards. You will only receive e-mail notification (to your DU email account) of your awards if you are a new student.
    7. When completing the promissory note undergraduates will be asked to select a lender. Undergraduates cannot choose DU as their lender.  DU recommends College Invest to undergraduates interested in borrowing federal Stafford Loans. To complete a Federal Stafford Loan promissory note with College Invest as your lender, please visit www.studentloanonline.com.
    If you have any questions you can contact College Invest at 303-305-3000. Students may also choose another lender if they prefer.
    8. Repeat this process (except Step 7, which is only required once) each spring for the next academic school year.

Other Options

Colorado Grant Program

The Colorado Grant Program for 2007-2008 has been modified so that all Colorado residents registered for at least 8 quarter hours per quarter may be eligible to receive a state grant of $700 for the academic year depending on their Estimated Family Contribution. Students must remain enrolled in 8 quarter hours per quarter to be eligible. The Colorado Grant does not require graduation from a Colorado high school.
