Challenges for the experienced player or lessons for the beginner will take place under the guidance of National Chess Master Todd Bardwick. Todd will teach those desiring to learn the game while providing tips to those who want to improve their game  as they play.

The Symphonies of Brahms

David Kaslow, Lamont School of Music Emeritus Professor, returns to OLLI to discuss German Romantic composer, Johannes Brahms (1833-97).  Brahms composed only four symphonies, but each one is exquisite, monumental and different from the others.  Within this three-session class, we will examine these astonishing masterpieces within the context of Romanticism, and through guided listening, learn to love them…even more.

Mozart’s “Cosi Fan Tutte”

Ken Cox, Lamont School of Music Opera Director has invited us to attend a final dress rehearsal of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte –translated, “Women are like that.”  This masterful opera was first performed in 1790.  It is one of the top twenty operas performed in the United States.

An Inside Look at an Urban Refuge

Join volunteer birder Carl Wells and Bluff Lake horticulturalist Chris Story as they lead a tour of this unique 123 acre urban wildlife refuge.  Located on the former Stapleton airport, Bluff Lake beckons with its intact native short grass prairie, riparian corridor, and thriving wetland.  Participants will be guided through the Nature Center by two individuals who know it best and learn about its natural history, wildlife inhabitants, and stunning fauna.  Spring is the perfect time to see Bluff Lake come alive!

STRETCH, STRENGTHEN and SOOTHE WITH HATHA YOGA

Bring strength and flexibility to your body and mind by practicing yoga stretches and postures suitable for beginners, advanced beginners, and intermediates. We will practice simple breathing exercises, a gentle warm-up, and classic yoga postures including standing, sitting, reclining, and relaxation poses with guided imagery. Our instructor, Carol Sullivan, has had extensive training and teaches throughout the city.
