The master’s degree specialty and graduate certificate in Organizational Security can be earned entirely online or evenings on campus.
This program is designed for business and organizational security management professionals. These professionals typically lead and manage security operations addressing personnel, property, facility, information, and business continuity security. Students in this program will obtain management skills and technical knowledge required to function as a chief security officer, director of loss prevention, director of security, security consultant, investigator, firefighter, or police officer.
Students learn to:
• Lead the strategic, planning, and management efforts of private and public sector organizations
• Evaluate and analyze emerging security issues, regulations, and threats
• Analyze financial implications of security programs and options
• Protect vital assets such as people, physical structures and equipment, intellectual property, information and maintain post-incident continuity of operations
Program Requirements
Total 48 credit hours
Students are required to take MALS 4020 within their first three quarters at University College
Core - 8 qtr. hrs
Professional Foundation Courses - 12 qtr. hrs
Speciality Courses - 16 qtr. hrs
Further Study - 12 qtr. hrs
Admissions Requirements
Candidates for Master's degree programs are evaluated based on the following criteria:
Entrance examinations such as the GRE or GMAT are NOT required.
An earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is required.
Applicants must have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in their undergraduate work. Applicants with lower GPAs may be accepted on a provisional basis.
The applicant's professional commitment and written language skills are evaluated through the essay, and the confidential recommendations, both submitted as part of the admissions packet.
