Managing the Knowledge Based Workforce - 4 credits

Organizations rely increasingly on knowledge workers who generate and use information in creative ways. How do organizations manage these workers and their knowledge to create value for the organization? This course explores methods that are being used to forecast needs for information and to find, analyze, share, use and store information that is essential for the organization. Students learn how to create environments that facilitate learning, mastery and sharing of creative knowledge. Systems for organizing, retaining and sharing knowledge are presented, and issues in managing the learning process of the organization as a whole are explored.
