The master’s degree specialty and graduate certificate in Visual Art and Design can be earned entirely online or evenings on campus.
The program is designed for those students with basic experience in studio art who are interested in advancing their background in the visual arts, providing an opportunity for practice and learning in several different art and design media. If you are an artist of a single genre who wants to broaden your horizons; a classroom art teacher hoping to incorporate more art in your instruction; or a marketing, public relations, or communications director who wants to improve your art skills, these classes are designed to meet your needs. The program also provides individual instruction for students seeking to sharpen advanced skills or prepare for further advanced education in the visual arts.
Students in the degree program will build knowledge and skills of the creative fields within which their art skills and knowledge may be featured. Their specialty and other courses will focus on both a deeper study of art and art history, as well as studio art courses across a variety of methods and media. Students in the certificate program will focus solely on the study of art and art history and studio art courses. Most studio art courses will be intensive week-long sessions held during the summer quarter, on or near the University of Denver campus.
