Special Topics in Writing - 4 credits

The content of this course will vary each time it is offered. The topics may include time-sensitive issues in the areas of writing and literature, elective courses that are not scheduled regularly during the course of the year, or advanced inquiry into core-course subjects. Each time the course is offered, the specific content will be announced in the quarterly course schedule. Depending on the subject matter, students may be required to have completed prerequisite courses.

The Trickster
Shapeshifters, shamans, and Shakespeare, oh my! The Trickster is that not-so-trustworthy figure that pops up in story from all over the globe. From wily Hare to womanizing Reynard to David Letterman, the Trickster is the archetype with one ear "tuned to the Source." Students in this course, taught by Jennifer Zukowski-Boughn, M.F.A., will look at the Trickster in global literature, folklore, and contemporary entertainment and discover how to rein him in long enough to include him in their own works
