World Music - 4 credits
Diverse musical traditions from around the world are examined from historical, cultural, and social vantage points. Students listen to and observe performances of various musical genres and forms from both Western and non-Western traditions. Globalization and its influence upon world music is analyzed from perspectives of culture, technology, and social change among other issues. Different musical themes may be emphasized each time this course is taught.
