The master’s degree specialty and graduate certificate in Project Management can be earned entirely online or evenings on campus.
The content for this concentration has been developed to parallel the Project Management Institute’s (PMI!) “Project Management Body of Knowledge” (PMBOK! Guide). It covers all of the relevant areas and prepares the student to succeed on the PMI! Project Management Professional (PMP!) Certification Exam. In addition, the program provides practical experience in using the tools and techniques of effective project management. You’ll learn the basic principles of project management and become proficient in the use of project management software and understand how to develop a plan that clearly places a project in the context of an organization’s strategic plan.
This program of study will allow students to:
• Understand the basic principles of project management and become proficient in the use of project management software
• Be prepared to deal with the legal ramifications of running a complex project
• Develop a comprehensive risk management plan for a project
• Manage the complexity inherent in large-scale projects
• Develop a plan that clearly places a project in the context of an organization’s strategic plan
• Prepare to pass the PMI! Project Management Professional (PMP!) Certification Exam
Program Requirements
Total 48 credit hours
Students are required to take MALS 4020 within their first three quarters at University College
Core - 8 qtr. hrs
Professional Foundation Courses - 12 qtr. hrs
Speciality Courses - 16 qtr. hrs
Further Study - 12 qtr. hrs
Admissions Requirements
Candidates for Master's degree programs are evaluated based on the following criteria:
Entrance examinations such as the GRE or GMAT are NOT required.
An earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is required.
Applicants must have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in their undergraduate work. Applicants with lower GPAs may be accepted on a provisional basis.
The applicant's professional commitment and written language skills are evaluated through the essay, and the confidential recommendations, both submitted as part of the admissions packet.
