As the Human Resource function becomes more prominent as a strategic business partner within organizations, it becomes more imperative than ever for HR professionals to be equipped with the knowledge, strategies, theories, tools, and techniques to manage effectively and demonstrate return on investment. HR professionals must be aware of key 21st century and world issues affecting workforce management and learning organizations. They must understand current research and applications affecting choices in consulting and they must incorporate the powerful technological tools and methods, which are utilized to track and measure goals, outcomes, and performance.
The HR Management and Development program will prepare students to:
• Incorporate the process of executing business strategy through the development of talent management programs, which incorporate metrics for performance and up-to date tools tied to achievement
• Understand systems theory as a model for business success, and measure the impact of learning and performance strategies
• Understand and choose current communication and consulting tools designed to meet organizational objectives
• Evaluate, diagnose and treat organizational change and organizational issues
• Incorporate technology utilization into various HR functions including integration of systems, deployment of HR information or programs and management activities
Program Requirements
Total 48 credit hours
Students are required to take MALS 4020 within their first three quarters at University College
Core - 8 qtr. hrs
Professional Foundation Courses - 12 qtr. hrs
Speciality Courses - 16 qtr. hrs
Further Study - 12 qtr. hrs
Admissions Requirements
Candidates for Master's degree programs are evaluated based on the following criteria:
Entrance examinations such as the GRE or GMAT are NOT required.
An earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is required.
Applicants must have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in their undergraduate work. Applicants with lower GPAs may be accepted on a provisional basis.
The applicant's professional commitment and written language skills are evaluated through the essay, and the confidential recommendations, both submitted as part of the admissions packet.
