Global Human Resources
A speciality of Strategic Human Resource ManagementThe master’s degree specialty and graduate certificate in Global Human Resources can be earned entirely online or evenings on campus.
As the world becomes smaller via 21st century practices, corporate objectives and communication avenues, understanding all aspects of the “globalization” of functions becomes essential. Current research suggests that leaders who develop a global mindset will perform more successfully than those who do not. We know that HR professionals are dealing with a myriad of newly developing global issues and needs almost daily. New planning, marketing, technology, operations, management, and finance challenges present themselves in the global marketplace with each election, world event, software implementation, or restructuring.
The Global Human Resources program will prepare students to:
• Contrast leadership models, skills, and needs
• Demonstrate knowledge of the current global economy as it relates to the HR profession and its functions
• Develop a greater level of personal and professional cultural competence
• Plan and develop processes for global human resource functioning
• Understand, contrast, and utilize best practices within domestic and global HR markets
• Apply HR solutions to a global market
• Explore the impact of world issues, laws, trends, and international business topics as they relate to effective HR strategy
Program Requirements
Total 48 credit hours
Students are required to take MALS 4020 within their first three quarters at University College
Core - 8 qtr. hrs
Professional Foundation Courses - 12 qtr. hrs
Speciality Courses - 16 qtr. hrs
Further Study - 12 qtr. hrs
Admissions Requirements
Candidates for Master's degree programs are evaluated based on the following criteria:
Entrance examinations such as the GRE or GMAT are NOT required.
An earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is required.
Applicants must have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in their undergraduate work. Applicants with lower GPAs may be accepted on a provisional basis.
The applicant's professional commitment and written language skills are evaluated through the essay, and the confidential recommendations, both submitted as part of the admissions packet.
