This online Master's Degree in Geographic Information Sciences recognizes the emerging importance of geographic information science and the importance of integrating advanced study in geographic information systems, remote sensing, and global positioning systems with traditional studies in human, cultural, and physical geography.
The University of Denver's school of professional and continuing studies, University College, and the Department of Geography are partnering to offer a Master of Science in Geographic Information Science delivered online for working adults.
How It Works
• Students in this degree program will take online classes exclusively.
• Students will complete the first half of the degree by taking classes offered through the University College graduate certificate program in Geographic Information Systems and the second half by taking classes offered through the Department of Geography's MS in Geographic Information Sciences.
Program Requirements
Total 48 credit hours
Students are required to take MALS 4020 within their first three quarters at University College
Core - 8 qtr. hrs
Professional Foundation Courses - 12 qtr. hrs
Speciality Courses - 16 qtr. hrs
Further Study - 12 qtr. hrs
Admissions Requirements
Candidates for Master's degree programs are evaluated based on the following criteria:
Entrance examinations such as the GRE or GMAT are NOT required.
An earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is required.
Applicants must have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in their undergraduate work. Applicants with lower GPAs may be accepted on a provisional basis.
The applicant's professional commitment and written language skills are evaluated through the essay, and the confidential recommendations, both submitted as part of the admissions packet.
