Global Affairs Courses

Cultural Positioning and Assessment - 4 credits

In building a global perspective, it is essential to be able to position oneself culturally and interact with people from other cultural backgrounds. This course addresses the question of how to learn about different regions and cultures and how to assess the similarities and differences with one’s own. In the course, students learn about how to define culture. They develop skills to research countries, regions, and cultures through history, human geography, religion, and artistic traditions. They use the knowledge gleaned through research to build cross-cultural communication skills.
