The Organizational and Professional Communication program at the University of Denver’s college of professional and continuing studies, University College, is designed to provide a foundational background for ethical, real-time and applied knowledge and skills in a wide range of communication professions. The program's curriculum emphasizes a balance of theory, principles, and practice to generate focused outcomes. Faculty-led discussions, project-based learning, case studies, research, and cooperative study provide the strategic insight to effectively and immediately apply what you've learned.

The program prepares students for a variety of careers, some of which include training, consulting, organizational development, corporate communication, community relations, public affairs, government affairs, institutional advancement, advocacy, conflict mediation, media relations, meeting facilitation, coaching, and marketing. Outcomes for Organizational and Professional Communication

Graduates of the Master of Professional Studies in Organizational and Professional Communication will be able to:

Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills across organizational, professional, and social settings

Utilize knowledge of theoretical foundations and applied techniques to expand one's comfort level with communication choices across settings

Display critical thinking processes: analyze, understand, and evaluate communication within organizations and as part of external professional situations

Understand and model principals of ethical and professional behavior as communication specialists

Utilize creativity in constructing, assessing, and/or managing problem solving, decision making or conflict processes and interactions; demonstrate the ability to revise such processes for more effective outcomes as needed

The knowledge you acquire through the master's of professional studies (MPS) In Organizational and Professional Communication degree or any of the Organizational and Professional Communication Certificates of Advanced Study will assist you in virtually all endeavors, business and personal interactions. The program is designed for a variety of individuals: professionals responsible for internal and external communication but whose education and experience lie outside of this field; communication professionals who wish to improve and update their knowledge and skills; and individuals seeking to enter a communication field or desiring to improve their personal communication skills.

The Organizational and Professional Communication program supports the growth of professionals interested in a variety of management areas including marketing and public relations, human resources, healthcare, security, education, consulting, training, plus many other fields.

A Master of Professional Studies in Organizational and Professional Communication can be earned in less than two years by completing 48 credit hours. Graduate certificates allow professionals to add a powerful skill set to their capabilities in one year by completing 24 credit hours. Credits earned as part of a graduate certificate can be applied toward the completion of a University College master’s degree.
