Stephen Barnes

Stephen Barnes is a graduate of the Management Sciences and Information Systems Department at Oklahoma State University. Prior to earning his PhD at OSU, he spent 10 years in a variety of Systems Engineering roles at Nortel Networks. These included four years specializing in the impacts of deregulation and competition in North America on Nortel and it’s telephone carrier customers, a year working in the standards area on Local Number Portability, and roles in market characterization, business and network planning, and product capacity planning.
Before joining Nortel in 1991, he received his Masters of Science degree from the Interdisciplinary Telecommunication Program of the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a BA degree in Linguistics from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA in 1983. From 1983 to 1986, he was a Professional Research Assistant in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder. From 1986 to 1988, he built housing for Habitat for Humanity in the Rep. of Congo, Central Africa.
