Dr. Steve Else is an engaged change agent through his consulting, training, teaching, writing and public speaking for optimizing the use of technology, best management practices and innovation for the comprehensive transformation of business and government processes. A Chief Enterprise Architect himself, he has taught and recommended over 300 professionals for their professional enterprise architecture certification from The Open Group.
Ten years ago he founded, and remains the CEO of, Transformation Imperatives, Inc. and The Center for Public-Private Enterprise (a non-profit). He is also the founder and chair of the Association of Open Group Enterprise Architects in the Greater Washington, D.C. area and founder and executive editor of both The Government Transformation Journal and the EA Zone Journal. He is also co-chair of the Intelligent Enterprises Working Group for the International Council for Systems Engineering (INCOSE).
A University of Denver alumnus, Dr. Else has a doctorate in International Studies. His dissertation topic was "The Transformation of Large, Complex Organizations." He was been Adjunct Faculty at the University College of the University of Denver since early 2006 and has taught Information Systems Change and Project Management, Knowledge Management Tools and Techniques, and Emerging Technologies: Forecasting and Assessments. He is currently one of the lead instructors for the new core course on Enterprise Architecture in the Information and Communications Technology Masters degree program. He was formerly a career command pilot in the U.S. Air Force and, speaking French and German fluently, had the great luck to be both an attache in Paris, France and a liaison officer in Hamburg, Germany, having also lived in Japan for 3 years previously. He is married and has four daughters.
